NCCC Welcomes Guest Harpist for 2023 Holiday Concert

Meet Dr. Beverly Wesner-Hoehn

Dr. Beverly Wesner-Hoehn began her musical studies on piano at the age of six. She started harp four years later, due to the insightful suggestion of her mother. Beverly was active in the Sacramento Youth Symphony during high school. She won a Rotary Fellowship for study at the Music Conservatory in Brussels, Belgium, where she received the Jean Risler Award for Outstanding Musicianship and the Prix for Harp Performance. Upon returning home, Beverly received a Master of Music degree at the University of Southern California. She went on to earn a Doctor of Music degree in Harp, with High Distinction, from Indiana University in 1989. Beverly was later appointed Assistant Professor of Harp, at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington where she taught harp ensembles and chamber music for many years.

Highlights of Beverly's own solo performances include: French National Radio, Harpweek in Holland and Belgium, Rotary International, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, Indianapolis Children’s Choir, Walt Disney Epcot Previews, U.S. Senate Ambassadors’ Ball, Carnegie Hall in NYC, World Harp Congress soloist in Israel, Austria, France, and Denmark. Twelve professionally produced CD’s complete her discography; her collaborative CD with Bridge Studios in NYC, George Crumb Vol. 9 was nominated for a Grammy award. Since relocating to California, Beverly enjoys playing for the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, CSUS ensembles, UC Davis at Mondavi, Master Singers Chorale, Camerata, Modesto Symphony, Stockton, Folsom, and Auburn Symphonies, Schola Cantorum, Music in the Mountains, and the Northern California Children’s Chorus. Beverly has played regularly for Michael W Smith, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Johnny Mathis, and young singing star, Jackie Evancho. During summer months, Beverly can be heard (not seen!) playing in the pit at the Music Circus, Wells Fargo Pavilion.

For the third year, Bel Canto and Bella Voce will be performing with the Folsom Lake Symphony for their annual holiday performances! It's a wonderful opportunity for our singers and a treat for audiences as well--featuring baritone guest artist Roberto Perlas Gomez. Get your tickets now before they sell out! NCCC will perform two songs during the concert and sing carols during intermission.
